By the time you get to the eighth grade you’ll be expected to start thinking about some of the real issues that affect the society around you. Confront some pressing concerns and persuade your reader via facts and your own convictions that your point of view is the correct one. Here is some inspiration to get you started.
- The indoctrination of children via television
Persuade your reader that allowing children to watch television before a certain age is dangerous and reckless. You can also include an analysis of “age appropriate” television and why it’s just as damaging.
- Before and after dieting ads – Do they deliver?
Ask and investigate why so many experts claim quick weight loss results, and why then there is still such a huge problem with obesity in western countries.
- One standardized plug for all
Is there a reason for the variety of plug shapes and connections across the world? Argue that it’s time to narrow it down to one for everyone.
- Every student needs an iPad
Make your reader believe that an iPad should be a basic human right for every student across the world. Discuss the educational benefits as a means to convince.

Argue that the reason there are so many stray dogs is because of lax regulations on dog breeders. Discuss the benefits of adopting rather than buying and suggest that pet shops should be prohibited from selling dogs bought from breeders.
